Prime Minister Boris Johnson Update

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has told senior ministers and advisers that he has changed his mind on obesity and is willing to take a more interventionist approach. Research shows that being obese doubles the risk of needing hospital treatment for coronavirus. Approximately one in three British adults is clinically obese, classified as those with a body mass index (BMI) above 30. It is one of the highest rates in the western world. It has been reported that the Prime Minister see the pandemic as an opportunity for the Government to promote healthy lifestyles. The Times says he is “obsessed” with getting more people to cycle to work and that ministers believe that tackling obesity is important as the UK will have to find a way to live with the virus until a vaccine is found.
