The Cabinet Office confirmed on the 12 November that Capita will take over administration of the Civil Service Pension Scheme on Monday 1 December 2025. The confirmation follows a critical report from the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee published in late October. Capita take on responsibility for the pensions of 1.7 million members of the scheme, with future pension benefits of £189 Billion. The Cabinet Office awarded the contract to Capita in November 2023, allowing a two-year transition to 1 December 2025.
Capita will be launching a new website on the same URL (www.civilservicepensions.org.uk), member portal and employer portal on 1 December with a new App in 2026, suitable for all Android and iOS devices.
The Cabinet Office has confirmed to CSPA that “additional commercial measures have been built into the contract so that the Cabinet Office can maintain the strongest levers and controls and prioritisation of core service delivery (Exits, Payroll and Retirements) to ensure members and service users will see improvements”.
The Cabinet Office added that “this remains a complex and large scale programme and we will continue to work with Capita to ensure the transition is a success both for members of the Scheme and taxpayers”.
CSPA officers have met with the Capita team in the Summer to establish lines of communication during the transition and ensure we can continue to represent members on any individual pension issues that may arise after the transition from MyCSP. We also continue to have regular meetings with the Cabinet Office pensions team who remain responsible for all aspects of the contract with Capita.
