All member ballot
This September, CSPA members will take part in our first all-member ballot to elect key members of the Executive Council.
Ballot papers will be included with the Autumn edition of The Pensioner, and members whose email addresses we hold will also receive a secure link to vote online. Whether you choose to vote by post or online, we encourage every eligible member to take part.
Why are we introducing an all-member ballot?
The ballot is the first stage of a two-year trial approved by members at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
Traditionally, Executive Council elections have taken place through CSPA’s network of local groups, branches and regions. However, as the number of active groups has reduced over time, not every member has had the same opportunity to take part in electing the national Executive Council.
The all-member ballot gives every member an equal opportunity to vote, regardless of where they live or whether they belong to an active local group.
What will members vote for?
During the two-year trial, members will be able to vote directly to elect the Chair, Vice Chair and five nationally elected members of the Executive Council where an election is required.
This year, the Chair and Vice Chair positions each received a single nomination, so those positions will not be contested in the ballot. Members will therefore be voting to elect the five nationally elected Executive Council members.
The ballot does not affect local groups, branches or regional representatives, whose roles and election processes remain unchanged.
How to vote
Voting will be available in two ways:
- By post using the ballot paper included with the Autumn edition of The Pensioner.
- Online using the secure voting link sent by email to members whose email addresses we hold, or by following the instructions on the ballot paper and entering your unique voiting code.
The ballot will be managed by an independent electoral services provider to ensure the process is secure, transparent and fair.
Meet the candidates
Before voting opens, we’ll introduce the current Executive Council and the candidates standing in this year’s election, so you can learn more about the people seeking your support.
Make your vote count
When your Autumn edition of The Pensioner arrives, look out for your ballot paper. If we hold your email address, you’ll also receive details of how to vote online.
Whichever method you choose, your vote is your opportunity to help elect members of the CSPA Executive Council and play your part in the future of the organisation.
