David Luxton addresses Energy Price Cap Protest 7th Feb 2022

It was a great 100 strong turnout this morning (07/02/22) for the Energy Price Cap Protest outside Downing Street.

The protest came about after the news that the OFGEM domestic energy price cap will increase by £693 from April 2022. That’s an increase of 54% – from £1,277 to £1,971 per year, amid the soaring oil and gas prices.

There is strength in numbers and it was good to join National Pensioners Convention and Fuel Poverty Action for this important event.

David Luxton (Deputy General Secretary), Mike Sparham (National Treasurer) and Nicola Crichton (Policy, Campaigns & Projects Manager) from HQ were joined by a few of our members to add the civil service pensioner perspective.

David addressed the crowd on how fuel price rises and the soaring cost of living impacts Civil Service Pensioners.
