Have your say on the future of adult social care

The Government’s independent review of adult social care has launched a nationwide consultation, giving people across England the chance to help shape the future of care services.

Led by Baroness Louise Casey, The Big Conversation on Care will gather views from the public before the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care makes its recommendations in 2027. The conversation will explore some of the biggest questions facing the care system, including who should receive support, what role families should play and how social care should be funded fairly and sustainably.

For CSPA members, this is an important opportunity to influence decisions that could affect millions of pensioners, both now and in the future.

People can take part by sharing their views through the Commission’s online platform, where participants can submit ideas and vote on suggestions from others. A nationally representative Public Panel on Care will also examine the evidence and feed its conclusions directly into the Commission’s final recommendations.

The Commission recognises that not everyone wants to take part online. It is working with voluntary and community organisations across England to ensure people who use care services, unpaid carers, care workers and others can share their experiences in ways that suit them.

If you would like to take part or find out more, visit the Big Conversation on Care on the Casey Commission website. You can also learn more about the Commission’s work, share your own experiences and sign up for updates as the review progresses.

As part of the launch, Baroness Casey also wrote about why the country can no longer delay reform of adult social care, highlighting the need for an honest national conversation about how care should be delivered and funded in the years ahead.

As part of Later Life Ambitions we have consistently called for a sustainable, properly funded National Care Service with national standards, investment in the social care workforce and better integration with NHS services. We encourage members to take this opportunity to help shape the future of social care.
