At the start of last month, Independent Age launched a petition calling for the introduction of a national social tariff for water.
The organisation has been campaigning to end the current unfair system, where the level of support people receive with their water bills depends on where they live. A national water social tariff would remove this postcode lottery and help lift hundreds of thousands of older people out of water poverty.
To bring this issue directly to decision-makers, Independent Age is taking its case to policymakers in Westminster with an event scheduled for later this month. Public support will be vital in ensuring this issue receives the attention it deserves, and individuals are encouraged to invite their MP to attend.
The event will feature a pop-up installation designed to highlight the significant disparities in support offered by water companies across England and Wales.
By inviting MPs to the event, supporters can help draw attention to the postcode lottery in water bills and advocate for a fairer, more consistent system for those struggling to afford essential services.
