What?
The Mega Miles Challenge is a fundraising event run by the Charity for Civil Servants. It’s a chance to be part of a wider community coming together—walking, jogging, running, cycling, or simply getting moving—to support colleagues who may be going through tough times.
Every mile makes a difference. The idea is simple: get moving in a way that works for you and help raise support so no civil servant has to face life’s challenges alone.
And it really does add up—walking 10,000 steps a day for a month works out at roughly 155 miles.
As one participant, Hannah, put it: “Being a civil servant is the best job I’ve ever had. If nobody helps each other, then where does that leave us? We’re supposed to be a community that works together.”
When?
Taking place across the month of June, the Mega Miles Challenge gives people the flexibility to get involved whenever it suits them. Some may choose to stay active throughout the whole month, while others might organise one big walk or activity. However you take part, it all adds up to something meaningful.
How?
It’s completely free to take part, and you can join in on your own or as part of a team. From 1 June, participants can upload their activities manually through their account or connect an app like Strava if they’d prefer to track things automatically.
However you choose to get involved, it’s all about taking that first step—and helping others along the way.
