Simon Case appointed new Head of Civil Service

The Cabinet Office has announced that Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has appointed Simon Case as the Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service. Simon will proceed to the new posts on Wednesday 9 September. He is currently Permanent Secretary in Number 10 Downing Street. Prior to that he was Private Secretary to the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William and has held a variety of roles across government including as Director General at the Department for Exiting the European Union, Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and Director of Strategy at GCHQ.



The Prime Minister said, “Simon will make a fantastic Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service. His years of experience at the heart of government and working for The Royal Household make him ideally suited for this crucial role”.
