It has been reported by The Daily Telegraph that Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock is to announce a “bureaucracy busting push” today, offering patients more direct access to medics via smartphone consultations and secure messaging, based on shortcuts used during the pandemic. He will ask NHS workers for ideas on how to change rules and regulations and is expected to say that online and video consultations should be offered routinely by GPs, and call for services like WhatsApp to be used for communication. Alongside this call, the NHS People Plan will be published, aiming to increase recruitment and retention of staff
