Why Join the CSPA?

You might want to support us in our work with the Cabinet Office to protect your Civil Service pension, like the look of our great membership benefits, want to get involved with our campaigns, keep up to date with news, or just have access to a friendly local group. Whatever it is for you, we would love to welcome you to the CSPA!

Can I Join?
You can join us if you already receive your pension or are up to 10 years before your pension age (50 years plus depending on your pension scheme.)

You can become a member of the CSPA if you receive a pension from the Civil Service Pension Scheme, from a similar pension scheme operated by a research council or other non-departmental public body, or public sector employment that participated in the public-sector-transfer-club, or from a pension scheme operated by a civil service trade union.

Membership is open to active or former members of these pension schemes who remain entitled to benefits. If you are a spouse/partner of a member, or the surviving spouse/partner of a member, you are also welcome to join.

Associate Members

If you receive a public sector pension e.g. NHS, Teacher or Local Authority, you can currently join as an Associate member. Associate Members qualify for all Members' benefits (except individual pension case representation) including our free quarterly magazine.

What Happens Next?

You will need to download an application form, complete and return it to CSPA HQ by the Freepost address supplied.

There are two types of application forms: If your pension is paid by MyCSP or the research councils you can arrange to pay your subscription by monthly deduction from your pension (although you may opt to pay by annual direct debit). Direct Debit is the method of payment for individuals who receive other pensions i.e. NHS, Civil Service Trade Union, Local Government and Local Authority etc.

Return the form to us, at the freepost address provided. We will process your form and write to you with your membership card and welcome letter. You can then enjoy our membership benefits, etc. We will also inform your Local Group Secretary so that they can contact you with details of your nearest group and their activities.

Local Groups

Our Local Groups are run independently and are very important to us. Groups provide regular opportunities to catch up, socialise, an opportunity to meet new people and discuss issues of importance. Group members can also enjoy an organised lunch or outing, listening to an interesting talk from guest speakers and learn something new! Many groups also campaign on issues of local and national significance.

Northern Ireland and Scotland Branches

We also have a CSPA Northern Ireland Branch
